Mostly because it syncs across devices. Who really loves to use a word processor on a phone? But I need it for school.

Since I do not program or use Markfown or Markup or whatever it is that web developers use, none of the "simple" text editors are really helpful. If I need to scratch a note I use TextEdit or Notes or Reminders. If I want to write more than a sentence I use Pages. It does not take that long to open and it will go anywhere including back to plain text.
